Melva Seever, BVHH’s very first Member to receive volunteer services
“Everyone has been so sweet to me. It’s awfully hard for me to drive myself. I really appreciate how everyone has been so caring, wonderful and helpful.”
Lynne Grant, first Volunteer to accept an assignment for BVHH
“Volunteering makes me feel good. People say ‘thank you’ but really, it’s my pleasure to help, because I like volunteering so much. We are lucky to live in a town where things like the Village are doable, because everyone lives close by. I think it’s a great thing for this town. We’re all getting older, and most of us will probably need a helping hand someday.
Paul Bouscal, Volunteer
Helping others makes me feel good. There is a lot of appreciation. The resident I moved the box for was so grateful. He said he needed help but didn’t want a ‘stranger’ offering assistance. He wanted someone he could trust, and he felt reassured because all volunteers in the Village are vetted.
Steve Goodwin, Volunteer and Member
I really appreciated having someone help me move a bookcase after surgery. I have also enjoyed volunteering for the Village. I have made new friends. It has beens personally fulfilling to help others.
